ESIC Dispensary

ESI Dispensary provides primary health care to the insured employees (IPs).

These ESIC Dispensaries offer primary medical care to registered employees and their dependents.

When more care is required, patients are referred to nearby ESIC hospitals.

E S I Dispensaries have been operational in the majority of cities with sufficient numbers of registered employee beneficiaries.

1418 ESI dispensaries and 1,678 registered medical practitioners provide access to outpatient medical services. 

There are 19,387 beds in 145 ESI hospitals and 42 hospital annex facilities for people who need to stay there for care.

In addition, certain state-run hospitals have beds reserved exclusively for ESI beneficiaries.

In India, there are 830 ESI centres where cash benefits can be claimed.

New Amendment

Starting on January 1, 2017, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) raised the monthly wage limit from ₹ 15,000 to ₹ 21,000.

As of July 1, 2019, the contribution rate went from 6.5% to 4%.

  • The employer's share is 3.25% of Employee's monthly salary and
  • The employee's share is 0.75% of his/her monthly salary.

What does "ESI dispensary" mean?

The dispensary is run by the Government of India's Employee's State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Ministry of Labor and Employment.

It provides basic healthcare to registered employees (IPs) as a clinic.

Who is eligible for ESI?

Workers or employees are covered or entitled to ESI if their monthly salary is less than Rs. 21,000 per month.

The employee contributes 1.75 percent of their monthly salary to the ESI scheme, while the employer contributes 4.75 percent of their employees' salaries.

Who qualifies for ESI?
